We are entering the age of corporate social justice and inclusive societies. Long-standing, ample evidence of discrimination and most important attempts exist to legally abolish, economically counter-weight and societally alleviate the negative impacts of discrimination around the world. Yet to this day, there is hardly any description of discrimination of excellence against social justice. In the wake of the rising social justice movement, social justice plays a crucial role in pushing for societal change. Social justice striving is the excellence of our times.

Ethics of Inclusion captures fairness and social justice for all from an ethical perspective in our post-pandemic world. The book discusses inequality in Healthcare, Economics & Finance, Education, Digitalization, and the Environment, in order to envision economics of diversity and a transition to a more inclusive society.

A wide-ranging approach addresses issues of inequality in access to innovations such as telemedicine and artificial intelligence, economic gains of robotics, and big data insights. A rising performance gap between the finance sector and the real economy opens in the post-COVID-19 era, with system-inherent inequality, given elevated inflation levels and disparate impacts of low interest rate regimes around the globe. Education offers social transfer hubs and inclusion potential for societal advancement and international development. The transition to a greener economy is addressed in an analysis of the Green New Deal and European Green Deal including the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy. The book sets out a hopeful agenda for equality and social justice to deliver a post-pandemic Renaissance.

The first part of the project is dedicated to the study of excellence from interdisciplinary perspectives — for instance, studying how en vogue trends are first only accepted by only a few pioneers, who are then over time followed by the masses. Retrospectively, these new ground-breaking trends survive in history and are considered as excellent and brilliant innovation that ennobled society and advanced welfare.

The project draws from law, economics, sociology, psychology and cultural studies. Arts, fashion and lifestyle products are driven by luxury, another form of excellence only reachable by the elite. Artistic leadership in the luxury world appears somewhat resistant to discrimination of excellence. In a collaboration with the Parsons School of Design and New York University, the project argues that there is an implicit acceptance of excellence if coupled with artistic beauty, unique creativity in a transfer of ideas and deprecating endurance – all features that high-end luxury usually represents. Artistic excellence appears to be too beautiful and unique to fail and artists are often suffering anyhow, so why put them down?

In the wake of the rising social justice sentiment all over the world, social justice is defined as luxury in offering the hope of a better, more equal society. Social justice pioneers are the heroes of our times and their excellence should be celebrated as luxury moment that needs to be protected to trickle down in society.

Leadership against discrimination of excellence is proposed to learn from excellence represented by luxury in the cultural and artistic worlds. Luxury may hold unprecedentedly captured, cheap and easily-implementable remedies against discrimination of excellence. In case studies and a historical methods of research, the project unravels the main drivers of excellence and what is unique in luxury in order to outline these features in social movements. Unique luxury features are discussed to be proposed to lead academia but also economics in combating economically-suboptimal and societally-hurtful discrimination of excellence in social justice.
